The Project
Fits well with R.I’s worldwide goal of ‘literacy development’. It has the support of all the District Governors throughout N.Z. It is expected not only the book being used by primary schoolers, but that, by getting it into their homes, Mums and Dads come to use it as well. It is a great literacy aid in homes where reference books are often few and far between.
Bill and Lorna Boyd Charitable Trust
The Charitable Trust
Not Long after Bill Boyd commenced his term as Rotary International President on 1 July 2006, members of the Rotary Club of Pakuranga decided to mark the occasion by the formation of a charitable trust. The Bill and Lorna Boyd Charitable Trust deed was executed on the 18th December 2006. To date over 170,000 books with a retail value of +$5,000,000 have been presented to school children in NZ and the Pacific. Now the 3rd publication Rhyming Around The Alphabet has been released to further the Trust's goals of improving the literacy of our young.
